Arthritis is a joint related disorder which produces immense pain in the joints of hips, spine and knees. This disease is said to affect an innumerable number of people all over the world. It covers over 100 different conditions which somehow or the other produce pain in the joints of the body.
The symptoms of arthritis include joint pain and stiffness of joint muscles which results in the impairment of the body movement. The symptoms usually are of a come and go type. Arthritis not only affects the elderly and the middle aged, but can also influence children and the young. It affects the working ability of an individual and stands next to heart diseases in having an impact on the working capability.
Among the many known types, rheumatoid arthritis is the most hindering and usually affects women. Actually, rheumatoid arthritis belongs to a group of autoimmune disorders, wherein the body's own defence system attacks the cells inside the joints weakening it to a level that they become tender, swollen and stiff. The pain is usually felt in the morning hours thus preventing the individual from doing daily chores; the condition sends out alarms for immediate treatment so as to reduce any further discomfort.
Another most prevalent kind is osteoarthritis, which is said to inactivate and fail the joints by acting upon its protective tissues: namely cartilages. This results in high discomfort in carrying on work, the joints get stiff and pain is felt in the joints.
The kind of arthritis which affects the children is termed as juvenile arthritis, treatment should be made available at the earliest so that the children can regain back their active schedule. |
