It is thought that a warm dry climate is better for an arthritis sufferer. Although the weather has no direct affect on the disease, many people will testify that their swollen joints do become much more painful in the cold.
But, if you are thinking of moving to warmer climes, then consider that you could be moving away from the care and attention that you are currently receiving from the NHS (if you live in Britain), also you could be moving away from the support and help that your family and friends currently give. The disadvantages may outweigh the advantages! Give careful thought to any major decisions.
Maybe it is just better to try my arthritis diet and live a painfree life that way!
surveys actually show that the "weather" effect is not proven at all.
Maybe, the "best of both worlds", is the right option. Just spend the coldest months abroad, and return home for the summer, and for any treatments that you may need. All of this costs money, and not an option for most of us. In which case when it is snowing, we stay in doors and turn up the heating a notch. For those of us with outdoor occupations, then we have no option but to wrap up in the appropriate clothing. |
